Welcome to Suncoast Bengals, where passion for Bengal cats meets the pursuit of feline perfection. Founded on a deep love for these exquisite creatures, Suncoast Bengals is not just a cattery but a sanctuary of exceptional beauty and unmatched devotion. Our journey began with a singular vision: to breed Bengal cats that embody the true essence of the breed - wild elegance, vibrant personalities, and loving companionship.
We are a family of first responders with a passion of breeding Bengals. We operate a small cattery located in Central Florida just outside of Tampa. Specialized in Bengals with over 3 years experience in breeding. I brought my first Bengal boy home in 2016 and instantly fell in love with not only him but the breed itself. I knew early on that he needed a friend so we welcomed a second female Bengal into the family. After spending many years of learning all about the breed and working closely with another experienced breeder, we decided to venture out and start our own cattery. We believe that Bengals are part of our family and anyone considering homing one of our kittens should do so with the intentions of making it a permanent member of the family. Our kittens are raised in a family oriented home around children and other pets including our French Bulldog. They are well-adaptive and socialized by the time they leave for their forever homes.
About Bengals: Bengals are considered domesticated house pets, originating from the Asian Leopard and a domesticated tabby cat. Bengals aren’t your typical house cat although they share many traits. They are fun loving and full of energy. You may find that your Bengal is bored just sitting around in the house. They make great outdoor companions, and play well with other pets, even dogs. They benefit greatly from having a large exercise wheel in the house to release extra energy. Most Bengals love the water and might even jump in the shower with you. They are highly intelligent and can be trained to fetch, play games, and walked on a leash. Unlike a regular house cat, the Bengal can be very vocal and will definitely let you know when their needs aren’t being met. Most Bengals enjoy being around their humans and enjoy attention and anything else that can keep their mind occupied.
IIf you are looking for a nap cat that just lays around all day, the Bengal may not be the right fit for you. Although their temperaments can change greatly after being spayed or neutered. Unless you are an experienced breeder and wanting to include full breeding rights into your contact, we highly recommend all kittens to be spayed and neutered as soon as possible. When to spay or neuter your kitten will vary by your veterinarians’ recommendations. However, I have found that most veterinarians suggest doing it around the 4-6 month mark. The size of your Bengal can vary greatly. Most of my female Bengals range from 12-15 pounds while the males can range from 15-20 pounds. Grooming is very minimal as the Bengal has little to no shedding throughout most of the year. If you find your Bengal to be shedding more it may be due to environmental stressors or a change in diet.
